HP TX2000

The HP TX2000 is a tablet form touch screen laptop replacing the HP TX1000, a fine performer in it’s own right.  The TX2000 can be used in either tablet mode or conventional laptop mode as a touch-screen laptop.

TX2000

The screen size of 12″ is pretty much standard for this type of laptop and the WXGA screen looks good.  The hinge mechanism that allows the screen to swivel into tablet mode feels robust and you could have confidence that this machine wouldn’t be easily damaged.  Input to the screen is either through touch or by use of an input pen.  Pen input feels good and the touch input is effectively cut-out when using the pen so the arrangement works well.

The standard processor is a dual core AMD Turion 2.3GHz and RAM goes up to 4Gb.  Hardrive options are 120, 160 and 250Gb and the operating system is a Microsoft Vista flavour as standard.

The TX2000 weighs in at a little over 4lbs but is still user-friendly when it comes to moving it around.  The standard 4 cell battery should give over 4 hours of use but there is a 6 cell option also available.  Build quality feels good and the keyboard seems durable and tough, with a perforated design touchpad just below it.  In terms of looks the Tx2000 isn’t a stunner but it hold it’s own.

All in all this is a well built laptop coming in at a good price and is worthy of anyone’s consideration, it will no doubt gain a lot of devoted fans.
